Reading Group:
Masamoto kō tabihikitsuke
Japan Past & Present is currently hosting a Zoom-based reading group on the late medieval diary of Kujō Masamoto 九条政基 (1445–1516) known as Masamoto kō tabihikitsuke 政基公旅引付. Participants gather to transcribe and translate the text, learning invaluable skills in the reading and interpretation of premodern Japanese sources. The group is led by Lee Butler (Independent Scholar) and organized by Nadia Kanagawa and Paula R. Curtis. The group will meet twice a month beginning in April 2023. As the diary is transcribed and translated, the group will gradually add content to this space so others may use it in their research and teaching.
To join the reading group, contact Nadia Kanagawa at pjc@japanpastandpresent.org.
