Access Options for NDL Digital Collections - CJM & NCC Open Session with NDL Experts
CJM & NCC Informal Business Meeting
Theme: National Diet Library Services for Providing Access to Digital Data of Library Materials: Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries, Individuals, and Remote Photoduplication Service (PDF file download)
Program Description:
Are you a researcher looking for clearer guidance on accessing Japan’s National Diet Library (NDL) digital collections? Did you know that researchers residing in Japan can enroll in the Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Individuals (DCTI), allowing them to view and print out content not openly available to the public? And for those outside Japan, an upcoming Remote Photoduplication Service will soon enable PDF downloads for a fee, launching on February 20, 2025.
Join a panel of experienced Japanese librarians based in North America and hear directly from representatives of the National Diet Library about key access services, including:
• Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries (DCTL) – Currently available to select registered libraries, with only four institutions in North America participating so far.
• Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Individuals (DCTI) – Open to researchers residing in Japan, enabling direct access to digitized materials.
• New Remote Photoduplication Service – A forthcoming fee-based option allowing individuals worldwide to request and download PDFs.
Researcher access to NDL is changing. This session provides ample opportunity to ask questions and gain practical insights into leveraging these valuable resources for your research. Don’t miss this chance to engage with experts and expand your access to Japan’s digital collections!
