Law Codes in Japanese History

The Law Codes in Japanese History collection compiles projects focused on the transcription, translation, and annotation of Japanese law codes and legal texts. The goal of these projects is to edit and translate all of the premodern Japanese legal texts, and to provide each with introductions and commentary that transform how these texts can be used by scholars and teachers. We aim to provide a comprehensive resource on early law in Japan, including a regularly updated bibliography and guide to the literature, with links to other relevant resources. We are presently organizing our project timeline and goals, so please watch this space for updates.
