The Japan in Translation Database is a multilingual collection of primary sources in translation that facilitate research and teaching in Japanese humanities across the globe.

The Japan in Translation Database (JTD) is a tool for discovering primary sources in translation into any language, and aims to facilitate research and teaching in Japanese humanities across the globe. Building on previous efforts to create more focused databases undertaken by individuals and institutions around the world, JTD serves as a centralized, multilingual, multidisciplinary hub for primary sources in translation that is accessible to all. “Japan in Translation” is not limited by contemporary geopolitical boundaries, or even by the Japanese language: the database is meant to embody a broad and inclusive approach that reflects the diversity of peoples, cultures, and practices that have always constituted Japan past and present. We encourage user submissions in any language as we strive to make this database as comprehensive as possible.
