Forum Ostasiatische Kunstgeschichte Forum East Asian Art History

Please allow me to circulate the program for this year’s Forum East Asian Art History in German-speaking Countries, which takes place at the Free University in Berlin. In our thirteenth year, we happen to have thirteen international presenters, all early career scholars in their MA- and PhD stages. Topics range from Korean genre painting, and Chinese literati painting, and calligraphy in education at the time of the Second World War to Japanese contemporary art.
Prof. Dr. Annegret Bergmann (Free University Berlin) will start the program with her keynote on “Transcultural Aesthetics: Korean Gohon Tea Bowls within the Framework of Japanese Tea Practice”
The annual Forum is a safe space without any supervisors present to encourage open reflection about problems and honest assessments of ones work. Over the years, it has also created its own network and gained significantly in international reach, and appreciation. We are grateful to the supervisors, who have again encouraged their MA students and PhD candidates to apply. The Forum is also open for early career and assistant curators to present their research, museum work and exhibition projects.
You are welcome to join us in Berlin, and look out for the next application in autumn!
