Mechademia: Traversing Trans-Asian Imaginaries: Anime, Manga, and Media Cultures

Mechademia Asian Popular Cultures Conference will be held at the National University of Singapore on 29 and 30 May 2026, in LT50 and SR1-6, Stephen Riady Centre, UTown. 

The conference theme is “Traversing Trans-Asian Imaginaries: Anime, Manga, and Media Cultures.”

This is the first time Mechademia will be in Southeast Asia. We have a vibrant programme of 150 prominent and emerging scholars presenting cutting-edge research on comics, animation, video games, and fandoms around the Asian region, with a focus on Southeast Asia.
